Youtiao / Cakwe (Chinese Oil Stick). Youtiao is also known as Chinese oil stick or Chinese cruller is a traditional Chinese breakfast. Youtiao in fact is deep-fried Chinese breadstick. The perfect match with Youtiao is soy milk.

Our you tiao recipe is easy to make and These Chinese crullers are really good alone when made fresh with some dipping sauce made with some soy sauce, hot chili oil and a splash of vinegar.

The Chinese call this you tiao (oil stick) in Mandarin or yau char kwai in Cantonese.

  1. You need 125 gram of Tepung terigu.

  2. You need 1 butir of telur ukrn kecil.

  3. You need 1/2 sdt of baking powder.

  4. Prepare 1/4 sdt of baking soda.

  5. It’s 50 ml of susu cair.

  6. It’s 20 ml of minyak goreng.

  7. It’s 1/4 sdt of garam.

  8. It’s of minyak goreng secukupnya untuk menggoreng.

  10. Prepare 1/2 gelas of air.

  11. Prepare 3 sdm of saus sambal.

  12. You need 2 sdm of saus tomat.

  13. It’s 1 sdt of kaldu bubuk.

  14. It’s 1 sdt of gula pasir.

  15. Prepare secukupnya of garam.

Traditionally Youtiao recipe uses aged dough which makes the process lengthy.

I did some research on the internet looking for a convenient Youtiao recipe but could not find one where you could make then in an hour plus.

So I decided to take on the challenges to shorten the process as much as possible.

Youtiao / Cakwe (Chinese Oil Stick) instructions

  1. Campur semua bahan, masukan susu cair sedikit demi sedikit, uleni hingga adonan kalis (hentikan penuangan susu cair jk di rasa sdh pas).

  2. Bungkus adonan dengan plastik cling wrap, lalu simpan dalam lemari es, semalaman…

  3. Esok harinya, keluarkan adonan dr lemari es, biarkan hingga 2 jam.. Setelah itu giling adonan, potong" memanjang…

  4. Panaskan minyak.. kemudian tumpuk 2 adonan, lalu tekan bagian tengah adonan dengan sumpit, dan tarik memanjang adonan, jangan lupa sedikit lipat bagian ujung adonan agar tdk terlepas…

  5. Goreng adonan dalam minyak panas, hingga mengembang dan matang kecoklatan.. angkat dan tiriskan.

  6. Bahan Saus : Rebus semua bahan hingga mendidih, angkat.. Sajikan Cakwe dengan saus sambal.
